Who actually owns India's matrimony sites?
Three companies own almost every matrimony brand you have heard of. Behind the hundreds of names there are four large databases: Shaadi.com, BharatMatrimony, CommunityMatrimony and Jeevansathi. Every regional or community brand of the first two is a front door to the parent's pool, so register once per database, not once per brand. The exception cuts the other way: CommunityMatrimony's caste sites are a separate pool from BharatMatrimony even though the same company runs both.
Everything that is not one of the four databases is either a branded front door to one of them, a much smaller independent, or a matchmaking service with no public database at all.
This matters because families waste money registering twice on what is one pool. MarathiMatrimony and BharatMatrimony are the same database with a mother-tongue filter. Marathi Shaadi and Shaadi.com are the same database sold by the same company at the same price. The one exception cuts the other way: MarathaMatrimony, a CommunityMatrimony site, is a separate pool from MarathiMatrimony even though the same company runs both.

Shaadi.com, its community pages, and the separate Marathi Shaadi, Punjabi Shaadi, Tamil Shaadi, Sikh Shaadi, Christian Shaadi and NRI Shaadi apps are one pool with different front doors; same plans, same prices. VIP Shaadi is the assisted tier on the same pool. Sangam.com is the exception: a smaller separate pool from the same group.

BharatMatrimony family

Two databases. BharatMatrimony and its regional portals (TamilMatrimony, TeluguMatrimony, KeralaMatrimony, KannadaMatrimony, MarathiMatrimony, GujaratiMatrimony, PunjabiMatrimony, HindiMatrimony, BengaliMatrimony and others) are one pool with one login. CommunityMatrimony and its 300+ caste and religion sites (MuslimMatrimony, ChristianMatrimony, JainMatrimony, MarathaMatrimony, AgarwalMatrimony and more) were launched in 2009 as a deliberately separate pool and are priced differently. EliteMatrimony, Jodii and Luv.com are separate products.
Jeevansathi family
Info Edge (India) Ltd, Noida, the Naukri.com company. Listed on NSE.
One database. Jeevansathi's 27 or more community sections (Punjabi, Marwari, Brahmin, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi and others) all live on jeevansathi.com and are one pool. Aisle and its regional apps (Arike, Anbe, Neetho, Neene, Jalebi) are dating-to-marry apps that Info Edge bought outright in 2025; they are a separate user base aimed at singles, not families.

Much smaller pools or no public pool at all. Vivaah.com and MatrimonialsIndia are cheap national listings. Jodi365 is a Chennai company for educated singles and won a 2026 court case against Matrimony.com's Jodii brand. Sirf Coffee, Vows for Eternity and Knot are matchmakers, not databases. SimplyMarry (Times Group) is defunct and Betterhalf appears to be winding down. The regional and community platforms in section V are also independent.

No. Shaadi.com is owned by People Interactive in Mumbai, BharatMatrimony by Matrimony.com in Chennai, and Jeevansathi by Info Edge in Noida, the Naukri.com company. Between them these three companies own almost every matrimony brand you have heard of, including all the regional and caste-named sites.
Is MarathiMatrimony the same as BharatMatrimony?
Yes. MarathiMatrimony, TamilMatrimony, KeralaMatrimony and the other regional portals are one BharatMatrimony database with a mother-tongue filter and one login. Registering on both is duplicate effort. The exception is CommunityMatrimony's caste sites, such as MarathaMatrimony, which sit in a separate pool run by the same company.
Is Marathi Shaadi or Punjabi Shaadi a different site from Shaadi.com?
No. The community apps and domains branded 'by Shaadi.com' are sold by the same company at the same prices and lead into the same database. Register once on Shaadi.com and set your community there.
BharatMatrimony vs TamilMatrimony, TeluguMatrimony or KeralaMatrimony: is there any difference?
No. Each regional portal is the same BharatMatrimony database filtered by mother tongue, with one login and identical plans. Register on whichever you like and you are on all of them. The only Matrimony.com pool that is separate is CommunityMatrimony's caste sites.
BharatMatrimony vs CommunityMatrimony: is it the same pool?
No. CommunityMatrimony was launched in 2009 as a separate company with a separate database, and its 300-plus caste sites (MarathaMatrimony, NairMatrimony, ReddyMatrimony and so on) do not share profiles with BharatMatrimony. A BharatMatrimony plan does not cover it. If your caste pool matters, it needs its own registration.
Jeevansathi vs MarathiMatrimony: which is the Marathi one?
They are two different companies. MarathiMatrimony is BharatMatrimony's Marathi-language portal, so it is the BharatMatrimony database; Marathi Shaadi is Shaadi.com's; Jeevansathi is Info Edge's own database with a Marathi community section on the same site. Three separate pools, and Maharashtra families also use Anuroop Wiwaha and the vadhu-var mandals listed on the Maharashtra page.
